Empowerment through athletics, camaraderie and inclusion.

OUR MISSION

Five Strong Foundation is a non-profit organization that empowers individuals with
developmental disabilities through athletics, camaraderie and inclusion.

WHAT WE DO

Since 2015, more than 2,000 athletes have experienced the freedom of competition through Five Strong Sports Camps. It’s great to see these athletes become the center of attention through a variety of games and sporting events at no cost. And let’s just say if smiles are medals, then there are always plenty of winners.

WHY WE DO IT

To us it’s simple. We believe strongly in the power of sports and the benefits that can be drawn from being given the opportunity to play. Everyone should feel the thrill of exercise, engagement and empowerment. Because when we find that safe space where everyone is having fun together … well, that’s when magic happens.

MEET THE FIVE

The Five Strong Foundation was created by five professionals who saw an opportunity to bring the thrill and comradery of athletics to the developmentally disabled community. The founding members are all former athletes and believe in the value and importance of exercise, competition and empowerment.

OUR IMPACT

As of 2021, less than 29% of those with developmental disabilities are adequately
serviced in Central Ohio. Five Strong seeks to provide athletic opportunities where
everyone can have fun and feel included. Since our inception in 2015, we have:

SPONSORED MORE THAN 30 CAMPS + ACTIVITIES

PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVER 2,000 ATHLETES

WE HAVE RAISED
MORE THAN $450K

THE FUTURE

As a young organization, we understood early on the
importance of building a solid foundation for long-term
sustainability. As we assess the needs of the community, we are
looking for opportunities to expand our programs and services.
We continuously reevaluate our strategic plan that outlines our
goals, objectives, and action steps for the coming years. It is
important as we grow, that we establish partnerships with the
right organizations, businesses, and individuals who directly
align with our mission. That said, we couldn’t be more thankful
for all the incredible partnerships we’ve made and the athletes
we’ve befriended. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.

“As the dad of a child who has non-verbal autism…this makes me want
to cry. As a parent I worry every day will he have friends, will he get the
help he needs, will he ever live on his own, what about when my wife and
I are gone. Knowing that there are genuinely kind souls, helping these
individuals feel like typical athletes it means so much to me as a father.”

“My son was a participant at the camp. He has very high functioning autism. He hasn’t stopped talking about it since he got home. It is an experience that he won’t forget. You cannot understand what this meant to him.”

“I volunteered at a bunch of Special Olympics both in Ohio and here in the desert. The experience is beyond words… needless to say, I’m pretty sure I got as much out of it as the participants did!!!”

“As a brother of a brother with a disability, this brought tears of joy to my eyes.”

“My son participates every time in what he calls the Five Strong Games. This type of activity is extremely important because it teaches them to do their best, have fun and do things that they don’t normally get to do. But most importantly, everyone just treats them normal and everyone is so great with them. It’s an incredible program and God bless the Five Strong team for making it happen.”

“Five Strong will never fully understand the impact they have made on my daughter. Thank you for caring.”
